Remove location data before sharing
GPS latitude, longitude, and altitude can reveal where an image was captured. This page checks recognized location fields before cleaning and reports them separately so you can see whether a photo contains coordinates.
What the photo inspection covers
The EXIF remover looks for device maker and model, lens, serial number, original and modified dates, creator, copyright, software, comments, orientation, and additional readable EXIF, XMP, and IPTC tags. It only reports fields the parser actually finds.
Why the photo is re-encoded
JPG, PNG, and WebP metadata is removed by decoding the visible pixels and creating a new image in your browser. This avoids copying metadata containers into the result, but compression, size, color profiles, quality, and animation can change. Animated WebP output is a still image.
Orientation and verification
The browser decodes the original orientation before drawing the new image, so the visible result remains upright. The output is then parsed again. A success state appears only when supported target metadata fields are no longer found.
EXIF remover FAQ
How do I remove metadata from a photo?
Choose or drop a JPG/JPEG, PNG, or WebP file, inspect the detected metadata, select Remove metadata, wait for the verification check, and download the cleaned copy.
Does this EXIF remover delete GPS coordinates?
It removes recognized GPS metadata by creating a new image from decoded pixels, then checks the output with the same metadata parser. A result is not marked clean if target fields are still detected.
Will removing EXIF data rotate my photo?
The cleaner draws the browser-decoded image, including its display orientation, into a new canvas. The output has no dependency on the original EXIF orientation tag, although dimensions may swap for a portrait image that relied on that tag.
Can I remove EXIF data from HEIC, AVIF, or GIF files?
Not in this release. Only JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP are accepted. WebP animation is not preserved, so an animated file becomes a still image.
